Promaestro participates in training for teachers in the Balearic Islands
The Promaestro Foundation participates in a teacher training program promoted by the Ministry of Education and Universities of the Balearic Islands. The “Estades Pedagògiques entre centres educatius” program promotes peer observation, pedagogical reflection, collaborative work and the exchange of methodological practices.
Macarena Verástegui has participated, with Begoña de la Iglesia Mayol, in the initial training received by the centers participating in the program “Estades Pedagògiques entre centres educatius”. The objective was to encourage pedagogical reflection by the teaching teams, providing keys for the systematization of the observation that will be carried out within the program during the current academic year.
Over the course of several sessions, we have prepared teachers to conduct peer observations. We expect that its impact on professional development will be high and will lead to changes and improvements in the participating centers. Firstly, the visiting center will make the visit to incorporate new pedagogical perspectives to the processes of change and innovation developed. Secondly, the receiving center will receive feedback on its educational project, broadening the view and reflection on its operation.
Our approach is based on the premise that teachers must take ownership of the training process and develop their own criteria for observation, adapting it to their objectives and the needs of the students. In this way, observation will be contextualized and more effective, allowing for relevant and quality pedagogical reflection. At the same time, we share tools and resources with teachers so that these collaborative processes are sustainable over time and can be incorporated into the culture of the school.
Another important aspect has to do with the transfer of the educational knowledge generated. In the future, the system should take advantage of and incorporate the teaching capital used in Estades Pedagògiques. The knowledge of the teaching staff is systematized and disseminated to the educational community, thus favoring the proposed changes and improvements and recognizing the strengths that the faculty and the center possess. In short, to cultivate a professional, holistic and collaborative view of the teaching profession and the challenges that schools must address.
More information about the training program
