Connecting Teaching and Research for better Learning

The CTRL+ (Connecting Teaching and Research for better Learning) project is a small-scale Erasmus+ partnership that aims to bridge the historical gap between educational research and actual classroom practice. Through the creation and development of the Research Lead role in schools, we seek to empower teachers to access, evaluate and apply scientific evidence in their day-to-day work, fostering a culture of collaborative inquiry and peer observation across Europe.

What do we want to achieve?

Our mission is to transform schools into evidence-informed learning communities through three strategic pillars:

  • Research literacy: Improving teachers’ ability to understand and use academic research.
  • Leadership capacity: Develop institutional mechanisms and tools to support the figure of the “Research Lead” within the school structure.
  • Collaborative inquiry: Facilitate teacher-led inquiry processes through structured cycles of observation and reflection.

Tangible impact

During the development of the project (2026-2027), we will produce and test three key results:

  • Practical Guides: Tools adapted to different contexts to integrate research into school routines and systematize teaching practices.
  • Moodle training course: A specialized training platform to train Research Leads and other educators in evidence-informed interventions.
  • eTwinning Community: A professional network for international exchange and long-term sustainability of project findings.

The role of the Promaestro Foundation

As the coordinating entity of the CTRL+ consortium, Fundación Promaestro provides the technical and pedagogical framework for the partnership. Based on our experience in teacher professional development and evidence-based education:

  • We supervised the methodological design of the Research Lead Model.
  • We coordinate the preparation of the Practical Guides and the training platform in Moodle.
  • We manage the strategic communication and quality assurance of the project to ensure a real and lasting impact on all participating schools.

Project partners

The CTRL+ (Connecting Teaching and Research for better Learning) project is a collaborative effort between six organizations from five countries, bringing together diverse educational contexts for a common goal.
